As an immigrant, I find art is one of the most powerful ways to tell my immigration story. In my early years, I created a series of works called Hiraeth (heer”’-eyeth) Welsh. (n.) “Hiraeth ” is homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past. Most recently I began a project incorporating the immigration stories of others who have emigrated from their home countries to the US. This project is ongoing and is very meaningful to me.
