“F” is for Family and Friends

As you know…when I’m not in my studio working on my encaustic, collage, oil paintings…I am home painting with watercolors and India Ink markers.

This past week I went back to my letters and though about how I can make them in a way that we could get better use of them.

I found these wonderful blank, white wooden letters and decided to do each one as an original artwork. I painted it directly on the wood.

This weekend we celebrated one of my dear friend’s birthday and I made the letter “F” for her as a gift. I loved how it came out. It can now be hung directly on the wall.

Would love your thought!

“R” is for Rainbow

R“ is for “Rainbow

I Love colors and I love “Rainbow“.

A “Rainbow” is an optical and meteorological phenomenon that causes a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the Sun shines on to droplets of moisture in the Earth’s atmosphere. It takes the form of a multicoloured arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.

In a “primary rainbow“, the arc shows red on the outer part, and violet on the inner side. This rainbow is caused by light being refracted while entering a droplet of water, then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it.

In a double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc, and has the order of its colours reversed, red facing toward the other one, in both rainbows. This second rainbow is caused by light reflecting twice inside water droplets.

You can read more about Rainbows here.

“Q” is for Queen

Queen is a good word for “Q“:

“All I Ask Is That You Treat Me No Differently Than You Would The Queen” ~Anonymous

“There is no use trying, said Alice; one can’t believe impossible things. I dare say you haven’t had much practice, said the Queen. When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” ~Lewis Carroll

I also like a Band called Queen. They sing some of my favorite songs!

“N” is Neighborhood

I had to think long and hard to find my favorite “N” word. It didn’t just come to me like with other letters.

I was happy to come up with the word “Neighborhood” :

  • an area within a city or town that has some distinctive features (especially one forming a community); “an ethnic neighborhood”
  • A neighborhood or neighbourhood (see spelling differences) is a geographically localized community within a larger city, town or suburb. Neighborhoods are often social communities with considerable face-to-face interaction among members.
And thinking about the word neighborhood I got these long ago memories of Mr. Rogers and his song: “Won’t you be my neighbor?”.
Do you have favorite “N” words?
