A “Rainbow” is an optical and meteorological phenomenon that causes a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the Sun shines on to droplets of moisture in the Earth’s atmosphere. It takes the form of a multicoloured arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.
In a “primary rainbow“, the arc shows red on the outer part, and violet on the inner side. This rainbow is caused by light being refracted while entering a droplet of water, then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it.
In a double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc, and has the order of its colours reversed, red facing toward the other one, in both rainbows. This second rainbow is caused by light reflecting twice inside water droplets.
“All I Ask Is That You Treat Me No Differently Than You Would The Queen” ~Anonymous
“There is no use trying, said Alice; one can’t believe impossible things. I dare say you haven’t had much practice, said the Queen. When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” ~Lewis Carroll
I also like a Band called Queen. They sing some of my favorite songs!
I have been learning many new things about “Letters” as I do my alphabet letters.
This is what I learned about the letter “E“:
The letter “E” is one of the most versatile letters in the English alphabet! (See – we’ve already used it!) It is the most commonly used letter in no less than eleven languages. “E” is derived from the Greek letter Epsilon, which was used for many of the same purposes as the letter that we use today. Due to the Great Vowel Shift—a mysterious change in pronunciation in the English language—the letter is pronounced in two varieties: long (such as in the word bee) and short (like in the word bell). Every educated English student must examine E for etymology (that is, history) and exercise (that is, use)!
The word I chose for “E” is “Exquisite” meaning “Of extreme beauty” “Delicately beautiful” “Lavishly elegant and refined”
Would love to see what words you choose. Leve them down in the “Reply / Comments” area.
If you follow my Dora Ficher Art Page on Facebook you have probably seen some of the letters I’ve been creating with ink and pen which I then scann and finish up as a digital image.
I am working on a letter series and would love your comments. I will be making a book with all my letters and would like to have a name for each one. Each letter will have a specific name and a list of other words that start with that letter.
My 1st Series is called “Little houses Series”.
I will start from the beginning with the letter “A”. Remember: what I need from you is to leave me words that start with this letter in the comment section below.
I named the 1st one “A” for Alyson.
Apart from the book, I will be offering these letters either individually in different sizes on paper, quilted fabric and…more later….Check in often to get the details.
